Planting for water gardens and surrounding areas (including ponds, streams, bog-gardens and herbaceous borders)

Many of our customers, particularly those new to water gardening, are unsure how, when and where to start with planting a new water garden or maintaining an existing one.  We offer customers in the Home Counties the following services.

Newly created water gardens

We offer a consultancy service whereby we will visit your site and prepare a planting scheme for you.  This will include suggestions as to a range of suitable plants (and quantities) so that your water garden will look as attractive as possible all the year round.  Our recommendations will take account of factors such as soil conditions, shade/sunny positions, water movement and intended pond life.

If our scheme meets with your approval we will be happy to provide a price for supply and delivery of your order.  For an additional fee we will be pleased to place and plant the plants including re-potting plants in your chosen baskets, planting bags or aqua planters.

Existing water gardens

Often existing water gardens become overgrown and neglected.  We offer a consultancy service whereby we will visit your site and advise as to maintenance, pruning, re-potting and treatment of your pond e.g. to deal with duckweed, blanket weed, and excessive algae.  For an agreed fee we will undertake the recommended maintenance work.

If requested we will also make suggestions as to the introduction of additional plants to enhance the water garden.  We are happy to provide quotations for supply and delivery of the plants together, if required, for planting and re-potting in your chosen baskets, planting bags or aqua planters.

Re-potting service

As an alternative to our maintenance service you can bring your plants to the nursery (or we will collect) and we will re-pot your plants into your chosen baskets, planting bags or aqua planters, using fresh aquatic soil, hessian liners (if needed) and gravel top dressing.  You can collect the plants or we can deliver them.  For an additional fee we will also place and plant your plants.  We regret that we cannot accept plants contaminated by Azolla or duckweed.
