Product Information
Nymphaea Almost Black is a water lily with very dark blood-red flowers. These pond plants are free flowering, suitable for natural planting in ponds and lakes in full sun and partial shade, have a leaf spread of 90-120 cm and are at a water depth of 30-60 cm.
BEWARE, some companies will show images of this cultivar as dark purple, however, the only blue and purple frost hardy cultivars are ISG cultivars (inter sub-generic) and are very new to the world of Frost Hardy Water lily hybridisation. Therefore, these pond plants carry a cost of £90 each. If you have bought any Nymphaea Almost Black water lilies from another company expecting them to be purple, maybe you should ask for your money back!
Aquatic Soil
Aquatic soil is heavy in weight an will therefore increase the cost of postage and packing. Heavy sand or clay based top soil from your back garden will make a fine planting substrate, molehill soil is even better. NEVER use peat based soil or your plants will float up out of your newly planted baskets/planting bags.
Aquatic Top Gravel
Aquatic gravel is heavy in weight and will therefore increase the cost of postage and packing. Top gravel is used as a decorative finish or as an added protection and deterrent to inquisitive/plant destructive koi-carp and other large fish. We only sell 4-6mm grade aquatic gravel as any grade larger will inhibit plant growth. NEVER place large pebbles or stones on top of your Aquatic Planting Baskets
